Our Projects

Tuesday 4th November 2014

Creation Trust runs a number of projects, all of them aim to benefit residents on the Aylesbury estate in some way. For example, we fund activities for local younger residents, our employment programme SE17Working helps residents to find jobs. We also have a dedicated Resident Support Programme that assists some of the more vulnerable and isolated residents on the estate.

Tackling Worklessness on the Estate

SE17Working is a partnership formed to help Aylesbury Estate residents find employment by removing any barriers that are keeping you from finding work and linking you to employers . The scheme is funded by London & Quadrant Housing, Southwark Council and Creation Trust who also make up the Board which manages the Partnership.

Within the programme there are a number of projects, all of which are aimed at getting residents into employment. These programmes, include Fast Track to Work, the WOW programme, the InStall Project and the Pop-Up Shop programme.

If you live on the Aylesbury estate and are looking for work, contact SE17Working on 0207 7038923 or visit www.SE17working.org

Young Residents

Creation Trust funds the Youth Centre, 2Inspire, which is based at the bottom of Wendover, on Thurlow Street. They run activities every night of the week, including arts and crafts, digital media and dance.

At the request of local residents Creation Trust agreed to fund a Mobile Skate Park which takes place every Saturday on the Football pitch next to the Creation Trust Offices on Thurlow Street.

We also fund the youth organisation XLP to provide four youth workers, who live just near the estate, in the old caretakers house on Trafalgular Street, they run trips for young carers and offer mentoring support. XLP also bring on their bus onto the estate every Tuesday.

Creations also runs a very extensive Summer Programme of activities, this programme is open to every young person on the estate, it includes activities such as cooking, trips, fashion, dance and football. We also invite young people to write their own version of the ECHO.

Older Residents on the Estate

Creation's Resident Support Programme offers in-depth one to one support to the most vulnerable residents on the estate. Vulnerable can mean anything from very elderly, people with disabilities, mental health issues, people with complex family arrangements; sometimes it is the regeneration process itself that makes people vulnerable. We have one full time worker, Dambile Nkunika and a parttime casewoker Natasha Beattie. If you have an issue you would like to discuss contact 0207 7038923.

We run events for local over 50s on the estate, we have also helped Walworth Academy to organise 2 tea dances for residents. We have funded Art in the Park to offer a Monday art class. Every year we also deliver a Christmas hamper to some of the most elderly and isolated residents on the estate.

Community

We have a number of projects that are aimed at informing and engaging residents on the estate. These include, events, publications and the community team. We have also done projects such a remake of the Channel 4 ident filmed on the estate

The Community Team is a group of Aylesbury Estate residents employed by Creation on an occasional basis, to assist with Creation outreach, events, research, and to help inform residents about the regeneration process.

We also produce a quarterly magazine called the ECHO, that goes to every home on the estate.
