The Trust has opened up our first pop-up training facility. The centre is a disused office space on the Aylesbury Estate in Southwark which was donated to the Trust by Southwark Council and is supported by Southwark Works. The Trust runs courses from the site where young people can learn skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating, plastering and tiling. These newly learnt skills can be practised on the building itself and participants can plaster, paint and wallpaper walls. The refurbishment of the space is an ongoing project with participants from each course working on the training rooms. At the end of the course trainees have something tangible to show for their efforts which future trainees will also benefit from. The space is large enough to contain 2 learning areas including a kitchen, study rooms and break out area. We can provide 5 or 10 week part-time courses from the centre where participants gain Entry Level 3, 2 or 1 qualifications and get support to take their health and safety CSCS test. Trainees will also have the opportunity to work on their CVs and enhance their employability skills with Trust staff. The Trust welcomes financial support for the site as well as donations of construction materials. Please contact George Dunstall on [email protected] or call 0207 467 9540 to find out more about the training centre or how you can get involved.Resource Center

The Southwark Resource Centre (SRC) is a new building in the heart of Walworth and one of the first developments of the new Aylesbury Estate. The SRC is a new service that replaces both the Aylesbury Day Centre and the Outreach Team for disabled adults in Southwark. The aim is to relocate day services to modern venues that are fit for purpose and integrated into the community. The SRC is designed to provide specialist support for those with complex needs, whilst offering more choices to help less disabled service users and older people live as active citizens in their community. A range of activities and social groups are available at the SRC. Many of these are led and organised by disabled adults, both in the SRC building and out in the community. Some activities include help with: Returning to education Finding employment opportunities Improving confidence and developing skills to discover and enjoy new hobbies and interests. Independent living team The independent living team is based at the SRC. This team supports adults, with physical disabilities, sensory impairment and mild learning disabilities, to plan and carry out creative living plans. These plans help people organise what support and activities would help them achieve a set of goals aimed at staying safe and independent.SE17Working Programme Centre

At 56 hectares, Burgess Park is Southwark's largest park stretching from Camberwell and Walworth in the west to Peckham and the Old Kent Road in the east. Burgess Park is unique in that it is a young park, developed as a result of the Abecrombie Plan for open spaces in 1943. The area was home to factories, densely populated streets and the Surrey Canal but badly bombed during World War II. The park was built between the 1950s and 1980s, named after Councillor Jessie Burgess, Camberwell's first woman Mayor in 1973. In 2012 Burgess Park re-opened after an £8m transformation, establishing it as a park central to the local community and recognised more widely for its heritage, sports facilities, lake, wildlife, design and horticultural excellence and even barbecues. Please view our handy Love Burgess Park flyer - packed full of useful information including our BBQ areas, holding an event, our amenities and a wide range of high quality sports facilities. It was time to respond to this in much the same way that a painting magazine run by practicing painters has fulfilled a need for many painters with a desire for intellectual stimulus and focus in this area. Founded in 2012 based on these principles, Turps Art School has now relocated to premises within an exciting new studio and gallery development in South East London, just 10 minutes from Elephant and Castle. From the Turps Studio we offer a one year studio programme, and run an online mentoring correspondence course. Applications are now open for September 2015 on both the Correspondence and Studio Programmes. Surrey Square is a special place. Despite serving one of the most challenging communities in the country, we support the children to achieve well above national averages. This extraordinary success is made possible because of our fundamental commitment to, and understanding of, each child and their family. We have designed our curriculum, systems and approaches around the needs and interests of the children, and it is this essential principle which has underpinned all our successes. The school is a vibrant community, with over 26 languages spoken, nearly 90% of pupils from ethnic minority backgrounds, and pupils from diverse religious groups. The Aylesbury Estate, where the school is situated, faces a number of challenges, with a planned regeneration now under question. It is not an area where our pupils always feel safe, and, sadly, there are many challenges for them growing up in the area. We passionately believe that schools can and do make a difference to children’s lives and prospects. In fact, I believe that primary schools are the best ‘tool’ we have in society to support social mobility and opportunity, something which has surely never been more important than at the present time. We have found ways to radically influence the aspirations and achievements of our pupils, and “Surrey Square Pride” is tangible throughout the community! January 2011 saw the merging of Surrey Square Infant and Junior Schools, and a new chapter in our development. With our new dining ‘pavilion’, entrance and gates, we are looking smarter than ever. However, new challenges face us, as we strive to ensure that our physical environment for our youngest learners is brought up to a high standard, as well as pursuing our ambition of becoming a ‘hub’ of excellent practice to support other schools.Roffo Court

St Peter's ChurchTelephone:

St Peter's Church is an Anglican parish church in Walworth, London, in the Woolwich Episcopal Area of the Anglican Diocese of Southwark. It was built between 1823–25 and was the first church designed by Sir John Soane, in the wave of the church-building following the Napoleonic wars. It is the best preserved of Soane's churches. It is a Commissioners' church, receiving a grant under the Church Building Act 1818 towards the cost of its construction. The church cost £18,592 (£1,430,000 in 2014),[1] and the grant from the Church Building Commission amounted to £9,354.[2] The church is a Grade I listed building.[3] It resembles two other churches by the same architect — in particular Holy Trinity Church Marylebone — in its use of London stock brickwork with stone dressings, and carries the Soane hallmark of tall arched windows set in recesses. The depressed Ionic front with cornice sand balustrade over avoids the architectural problems encountered when a pediment is used. The east end was altered in 1888, and following wartime bomb damage, major reconstruction was carried out in 1953. The interior was re-ordered in 1982. St Peter's has always maintained a catholic tradition of worship, pastoral care and mission within the parish of Walworth, St Peter. Today, St Peter's thrives as an Anglican parish church serving the community of East Walworth. St Peter's also enjoys close links with St Peter's CofE Primary School and nursery, where the Rector is Chair of Governors. The Aylesbury Medical Centre

We are a volunteer-led humanitarian charity organization based in South London called Divine Rescue. We help the homeless, ex-offenders, sex workers, vulnerable people and people in crisis within the community. When the crisis is over, we help people recover and move on with their lives, we intend to extend our reach further to other areas of London and UK. We have a strong team of dedicated volunteers that have helped and supported many people turn their lives around. Helping people come off drugs, help resolve alcohol related issues, tackle and educate people about antisocial behaviour, rehabilitation of ex-offenders, sex workers. We also provide National Vocational Qualification training via our affiliates to help people be more self-sufficient and become a valued member of society. Initially we started our project from a bench in 2005 at East Street, Southwark, and with the help of our committed team of volunteers and with support from Red Ochre, The Southwark Police and former NDC. We were able to move to our newly acquired office at the Thurlow Lodge Community in 2010. Divine Rescue was voted The Community Group Member of the year at the Active Citizen Awards 2010 organized by Volunteer Centre. In 2011 we were voted the Community Group of the Year at the Dragon Event hosted by the community. Divine Rescue was recognized for its contribution and commitment to the community at a volunteer-led-group in 2011 by the Worshipful Deputy Mayor of Southwark Councillor Lorraine Lauder (MBE). We have been supporting our street homeless friends and those who are less privileged in our community with foods, cloths, hostel referrals, hospital visit, support with bereavement, counselling advice, dealing with other agencies and sign posting them where they can find information to help them turn their lives around.Portland Street MUGA
