Southwark Young Advisors come to the Aylesbury

We are delighted to welcome to the Aylesbury estate, Southwark Young Advisors. The advisors are a diverse group of 36 young, trained professionals aged from 16 to 21 years old - all sharing one aspiration - to create change within their local community.

The Young Advisors are locally recruited and receive extensive training to equip them with the skills they need to work as young consultants and mentors.

Part of their work includes Street Base, a peer mentoring programme that sees the Young Advisors visit different locations around the borough to work with local young people of all ages. The team work with young people to find out about their interests and encouraging them to get involved in positive activities, opportunities and support. Working in partnership with the local authority, emergency services and other key partners including charities, the team help tackle low level crime and anti-social behaviour through engagement.

Until early 2019, the Young Advisors will be based out of Giraffe House every Tuesday evening and will also be working on the Aylesbury. During this time the Young Advisors will be running peer mentoring programs as well as other workshops for local young people.
