What should I expect during the Stepping Up Course?
The course focuses on performance skills such as physical theatre, improvisation, devising, and performance skills. There is also a focus on development of confidence and study skills such as team building and leadership which allows you to explore your strengths and areas for development. In the last weeks of the course the group will work towards a Final Sharing which will be performed to an invited audience.
What happens after the course?
Our vocational course is delivered in partnership with City and Islington College and aims to develop drama and theatre skills and to provide a Level 2 accredited qualification with OCN London. This enables you to progress, be this to Playing Up our Level 3 Access to HE course in Theatre Arts, other Level 3 courses or to gain employability skills in communication, team work and the building of confidence and self esteem.
Many of our young students have gone on to complete their level 3 course with us in the Playing Up company, with many graduates pursuing a career in theatre, and continue their training either within the industry, drama schools, Universities or with the NYT REP Company.
Can I apply for a bursary?
Throughout the course all participants that require travel support will receive a travel bursary designed to support their travel to classes. We are able to offer support of up to £5 per day per student for each day attended – this is usually provided on a designated Oyster Card which is allocated to each student and is topped up at the start of each week.
