Walworth resident Marco Barreiro, had been unemployed for a year before he joined SE17Working. Marco took part in the Aylesbury Apprentice programme, a specialist 12 week course.
How did SE17Working help you?
I was part of the Aylesbury Apprentice Project. It was an employability course that ran last year to help people improved their confidence and team working skills. The Se17 Working team informed me about local job vacancies in person and by phone, as well as sending me emails and text messages.
What job did you find?
I knew that I didn’t want to be stuck behind a desk, so I was looking for a job that gave me more freedom and flexibility. I am working as a park Attendance for ID verde, which really suits me.
How do you feel now you are employed?
I really like it, I am very pleased about the money and I am really enjoying working outside.
What advice would you give to others looking for work?
Keep on trying. You will get knocked back, but when you do, get back on the horse and try again.
What are your plans for the future?
I am planning to go on holiday next year to Las Vegas and also to Madeira to see my family.
