Arts Award Success
Thursday 20th December 2018
Congratulations to the young people successfully completing their Arts Award as part of the Creation Trust vlogging project, funded by Southwark council. We knew you guys could do it!!!
In 2018 Creation Trust took accredited training in-house, and become qualified assessors for the Arts Awards. The Arts Awards is funded by the Arts Council and delivered through Trinity College. The Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents and it is creative, valuable and accessible. We decided to link the qualification to a Vlogging project that we were commissioned to run on behalf of Southwark Council.
Arts Award can be achieved at five levels - four qualifications equivalent to A Levels and GCSE passes and an introductory award. 5 Young people started the qualification with 3 going on to attain passes (2 A Levels, and 1 GCSE) with the remaining 2 continuing to work on their portfolios for submission in 2019. When asked how they found the work needed for their portfolios to obtain the Award, the unanimous response was ‘challenging yet very rewarding’ and ‘improved confidence’. We are pleased that we are able to offer this type of service which not only helps residents to widen their choices in employment, but also boosts their confidence and life skills in order for them to engage more with others from their neighbourhoods.
